Holy cow. This place is dirty. Gross. I'm sure I got a good dose of immune boosting cooties today. We sat at the bar. Run your nails lightly across the bar top (if your wobbly seat allows you to balance long enough to do so) and you'll come up with a nasty layer of grime. It needs a deep clean. This isn't just old lacquer coming up. It's dirty. The bathrooms were awful too - they looked like something out of the back of a trucker's stop with graffiti and broken tile, dirty mirrors, and trash all over. And dirty. It didn't feel clean at all. Uck. And everything glass in the restaurant - if there wasn't a layer of dust on it, then there were a bazillion fingerprints. For god's sake, clean your front doors!! It's not a very good impression coming or going. And check your windows while you're at it. A feeling of eating in a clean environment is important to your diners - just nearly as much as the food itself. The bartender was pleasant enough. He stayed busy and wasn't too arrogant - but did drop a comment or two about being "stuck" there on Father's Day. (So?) And the food... we split a margherita pizza and had dessert. It was unimpressive. The pizza was burnt on the bottom and soggy in the middle. And not flavorful at all. The tiramisu was soggy too - and flavorless. It was more like a flavorless pudding than any tiramisu I've ever tasted. No coffee essence. Can't say I'll recommend this to anyone or ever go back. And frankly, am not surprised the Topeka location closed if this is the way Carino's are run. Serious attention needs to be given to the staff here.

Well where does one start? We had a 20 minute wait which is the normal for a Sunday night so that wasn't a big deal. The bar was calling our name as we wait so there we head. The young staff finally seats us and an even younger waitress is our waitress and her nervousness was apparent like no other. We brought our drinks from bar which I guess is a clue not to ask for another round or even water here. I didn't get it and order cheese sticks for an appetizer and that was by far the best thing we had all night. The ceased and house salad were nothing special and Cesar was over bearing with anchovies. 36 minutes exactly and we finally got our main dish which I had the Angel with artichoke and it only took two bites and I was done for the night. I have never not finished a meal and when asked if it was ok I instead asked for check. Never again will I be at this establishment. The main annoyance is watching another young waiter obviously wearing his fathers oversized shirt and cuffs unbuttoned, not professional what so ever and this place needs a huge make over or management supervision.

Very nice. The food was great, the service was attentive and professional. We will return again in the near future.

I'll start off by saying the food was good. But that was all. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table which was expected but it took 35 minutes to get served drinks. And only because I had to go ask a hostess (who was just standing there glancing at us) if we were going to get water or something. Our waitress who was incredibly rude proceeded to roll her eyes at everything we asked, for example, could we have more bread *eye roll* "I, guess" the only time she did anything fast was when she got us our tickets and boxes. I couldn't get out of here fast enough.

In my opinion it's one of the better restaurants at the legends. The foods amazing and the service isn't terrible. In the end it's just a great place to get some Italian food.

We may have caught them on a bad day, but the only decent thing we had was the Caesar Salad & soup. I try to write from the perspective that this is a chain, so give them a break. But, we arrived & our waitress told us they were running behind and didn't have any bread (we did eventually get some). I ordered the mozzarella sticks. They came. The first was fine. The other two were not fully cooked, so I had to send them back. I also ordered the lunch soup & salad. The salad was fine. The soup was roasted garlic potato. It was ok. Lukewarm, not as hot as I like it. The taste was simply decent. The mozzarella sticks never came back. We overheard them tell the table next to us they were out of wine. Only had enough for one glass. The guy made a joke, "are you out of pasta too?" Overall, not a great experience. I will say, the workers were polite. They did take the mozzarella sticks off our bill when I asked.

Not as good as it used to be. They revised their menu a few years ago & trimmed out all but one of our favorites, the Italian nachos. It's no top notch authentic cuisine but way better than Olive Garden & good for a lunch or causal dinner out with the family. Always pretty good service & usually don't wait too long for food delivery.

Nice waiter doesn't make up for the food. Not too impressed... Very watery pasta, seems like it may be prepared a few days in advance.

Trying to be a cross between Olive Garden and Buca Di Beppo. Fell short on both. Average, except for bread and dipping sauce out of this world good!

Befor ehading home we wanted to have a nice lunch and the wife spotted this palce on the way out of the Legends Shopping KC, KS Speedway area. I was too kken on having Italian, but since I made the family try Arthur Bryants bbq the night before - it was the right thing to do. Upon entering it seemed like a night quite, clean place. We ate today (Sunday for lunch). You get a nice bread when seated with some olive oil and seasonings to dip it in. I ordered the "only available at Carino's" dish called; Skillitini. Basically it was spaghetti with gr peppers, onions, chicen and sausage all cooked and served in a cast iron skillit. It was good and hearty with a very nice large serving. I also got a salad prior to my dish and the sald we really good with house dressing. Wife got the spicu calamari salad. She enjoed it and the serving was really large as well. Daugher got the kids meal bow tie pasta with butter and cheese and she ate it up as well. We were all pleasantly surprised that the places was as good as it was. Nothing extravageant but just plain ole good hearty italian food. We'll eat at this place again when in the area.

Hard not to give a fifth star... Whenever I travel I'm always excited to find a Carino's. The food is consistently good (although this location seems a little light on the "spice" in their "spicy menu items"), especially for a chain. One of the nice things, is that there's a large number of wines available by the glass. That's something you don't find everywhere - usually you have a very limited choice (at least, in my opinion that is). The option of multiple brands of each type of wine offered by the glass is a nice touch too. Bartenders are quite friendly, and attentive here as well... and do yourself a favor... do NOT turn away the bread :) WARNING - do not go here 3 nights in a row while on business, and then fly right home. I've been told by my wife that the that the toasted/roasted garlic from the oh-so-amazing bread-dipping oil has caused an ... unpleasant... aroma. :)

Italian is probably my favorite food, so I'm always partial to italian restuarants. I first went to the Carino's in Wichita, so I was excited to try it here, since it is the only one in Kansas City. When we went, it wasn't busy at all, so we didn't have trouble getting a table. What I really like about Carino's is the fact that you can add unlimited soup or salad to your pasta dish for only 99 cents. I know, I know, it's free at Olive Garden, but here they have caesar salad so that makes it worth the extra $1. Most of the pasta dishes are about $10, and you can also get family platters for $20+. I had the lasagna, which was really good, but a pretty large portion so I had to take some of it home.

Carino's Italian Grill beats the Olive Garden hands down. Their stuffed mushrooms are some of the best in town. And when you wash your fungi down with an amaretto-flavored Italian margarita, it's practically heaven. You won't find regional Italian specialties at Carino's. But what their dishes lack in authenticity doesn't prevent them from tasting good. And the place is huge, so you don't face the same daunting wait you'd have at a local bistro. To recap -- if you crave a regional Italian fish dish, your best bet is probably Il Trullo or Il Centro. But if you can't face that bland all-you-eat salad a la Olive Garden and just want some great eggplant parmigiana, get your mob together and pay a visit to Carino's.

Good Italian, comparable to Olive Garden. If you like Olive Garden, you'll like this place.

My family and I ordered Carino's to go last night, and it was disgusting. I've had better grilled chicken on a fast food sandwich- it was chewy and rubbery. The dressing on the salad was definitely just Hidden Valley. I ate there a few years ago and liked it, so it must have gone downhill.

Awesome. Smoked chicken jalapeño ravioli was really good. Bread with olive oil and bacon yum!. Servers really friendly. Mark West wine!! Very good!!

I love the food, though the last couple of times I have gone there have been front of house and management issues (such as being out of certain drinks, hostess really acted as though she didn't want to be there, etc).

Really nice wait staff but the food is very lackluster. the potato soup was too salty and the pasta dish I ordered was not memorable at all. The stuffed mushrooms were okay - probably the best thing on the menu. I'm not sure I would visit here again.

Was not too pleased with the service. Got the unlimited salad n bread but had to wait for 30 minutes to get another bread. If you are in a hurry, not a place to eat. You could tell the waitress was stressed on number of table she had. The food was okay, maybe I would just have to try it another time.

Good appetizers, bread, salads! Entree was decent, pizza had great flavors, but was black on the bottom. Service was fantastic!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
